FAQ

Q: What makes the Umfolozi game drive on Day 6 special?

A: The uMfolozi section in the south of Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park is famous as the cradle of white rhino conservation (Operation Rhino in the 1950s/60s). Its dramatic, undulating bushveld offers exceptional opportunities to track the Big 5 in an authentic wilderness setting.

Q: Are the Malolotja Canopy Tour and Rhino Walking Safari physically demanding?

A: The canopy tour requires a moderate level of mobility but is fully guided and safe for beginners. The rhino walk at Mkhaya is conducted at a slow, quiet pace, but you must be able to walk comfortably on uneven bush terrain for up to 2 hours.

Q: Do I need a visa for Eswatini?

A: Many nationalities (including US, UK, EU, Canada, and Australia) receive a free visa-on-arrival at Eswatini border posts. Always verify current visa requirements based on your passport before travel.

Q: How close do game drives get to rhinos in Hlane, Mkhaya, and Umfolozi?

A: All three reserves host dense populations of white and black rhinos. Open 4x4 vehicles allow close, safe encounters while adhering strictly to conservation distance rules maintained by professional rangers.

Q: Can dietary requirements be accommodated at all lodge stops?

A: Absolutely. With advance notice at the time of booking, all our partnered lodges across Eswatini and South Africa can accommodate vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and other specific dietary needs.

Very beautiful park. The food is good and the game drive was also great fun. You do have to be prepared for the fact that it closes around 9:00 PM and that you will have a room/cabin without electricity and therefore no lighting.
