This 3-day itinerary is designed to move away from the high-traffic tourist zones of the southern Kruger National Park and into the heart of the “Silent Corners.” This is a journey for those who value the atmosphere of the wild as much as the sightings themselves.
To help you prepare for the vast landscapes of the Lowveld, we recommend exploring a few essential resources. First, visit the SANParks official website for the most up-to-date information on park gate times, conservation fees, and official maps of the various regions. For those interested in real-time sightings and community feedback, checking the Latest Sightings Kruger platform is a great way to see what has been spotted near our “silent corners” in the last 24 hours. Finally, to ensure you are fully prepared for the weather and seasonal changes, the South African Weather Service provides localized forecasts that are crucial for planning your early morning departures and afternoon game drives.

Absolutely. Your safety is our #1 priority. Our vehicles are designed to provide maximum visibility while keeping you secure. Lions and other predators see the vehicle as one large, non-prey object. As long as you remain seated and follow your guideโs instructions (no waving arms or standing up suddenly), the animals remain calm and indifferent to our presence.
In our Lion Safari, the encounters are often very closeโsometimes within 2 to 5 meters of the vehicle! Because the lions are accustomed to the AfricaBigSafaris vehicles, they don't feel threatened and often continue their natural behaviors, like playing or grooming, right next to us. In the "Silent Corners" Kruger tour, distances vary, but we always carry high-quality binoculars for those more distant, wild sightings.
A little "African liquid gold" won't stop the adventure! Most animals actually become more active in cooler, rainy weather. Our vehicles are equipped with roll-down waterproof sides or we provide high-quality ponchos to keep you dry. However, in the event of extreme weather that compromises safety, we will work with you to reschedule or provide a refund.
Yes! Our Half-Day Lion Safari is a family favorite because it is short enough (approx. 3โ4 hours total) to keep kids engaged without the "safari fatigue" of a 10-hour day. For the longer Kruger expeditions, we recommend children be at least 6 years old, but we can customize private family tours to include more frequent breaks for younger explorers.
The Lion & Safari Park near Johannesburg is in a Malaria-Free zone, so no medication is required. However, Kruger National Park is considered a low-risk malaria area. We recommend consulting your doctor before your trip, especially during the wet summer months (OctoberโMarch). Wearing long sleeves in the evenings and using repellent is always a good practice!
